Laser hair removal is known for its benefits of reducing hair growth in an area, saving time and money from daily shaving, expensive wax treatments, and hair removal creams. But one benefit that many people do not think about when they think of laser hair removal is the reduction of ingrown hairs which may result in small dark bumps on the skin!

Ingrown Hairs and Laser Treatment

An ingrown hair is essentially hair that curls under the skin and attempts to penetrate the top layer of the skin resulting in inflammation of the area. Repeated ingrown hairs can result in a phenomenon called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Although this reaction is not permanent, it can cause a lot of insecurity about the skin, especially if it is on someone’s face.

Laser hair removal treatments will destroy the hair follicle which causes inflamed skin. After the treatments are complete and the hair follicle has died off, you can say goodbye to those ingrown hairs!

Client FAQ’s

Many clients wonder how many treatments they will require. The number of treatments may vary per individual, but most clients require between 6-10 sessions for full reduction.

Clients also often ask if they will see results after one treatment. For many, there is a visible, 20% reduction in hair growth with each treatment. Your hair will be thinner, and you may also find yourself going longer between shaving.

Another popular question is if the treatment is painful. Laser hair removal treatment will feel like a hot rubber band snap or pinch, but the Vectus Laser used at Couture Med Spa has a cooling feature to the tip of the laser which helps minimize any discomfort.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

It is also important to be aware of the necessary preparation if you are coming in for a consultation and treatment. It is important for the safety of your skin that you avoid active sun exposure and self-tanner two weeks prior to your treatment. You also to inform your provider of all the over-the-counter and prescription medications you are on prior to your treatments.

Avoid waxing, plucking, or using Nair two weeks prior to your treatment. Retinol-based products should be avoided on the area 5-7 days prior to your treatment. It is important that there is a hair follicle present when being treated for the best results. It is also best to shave the day prior to your treatment. A clean shaved treatment area will not only be less painful, but the results will also be better the closer the laser energy can get to the hair follicle. Ensure the area that you want to be treated is clean.

Am I too young for Botox?

“Am I too young for Botox?” is a common question asked by many of my clients. I explain to them that I started Botox in my late 20’s and I always hear the, “you’re too young for Botox.” This is a complete myth. Botox is the new way to prevent aging.

PREVENTION IS KEY FOR ANTI-AGING
Over the past several years the clients coming in to receive Botox treatments are younger with a large portion of our clientele in their mid to late 20s and 30s. We begin losing collagen in our face as early as 25 and it continues to decline every year after that. Even if you do not necessarily need Botox, it can still help prevent the signs of aging.

Wrinkles form due to many factors one of them being repeated use of expressive muscles in the face.

Overtime those expressions begin to leave permanent lines on your skin, those are what we call “resting lines”. With Botox you will partially relax those muscle movements, so they are not quite as expressive creating those permanent resting wrinkles. Starting at an earlier age can help maintain a youthful appearance. For some clients, over time, those muscles will be trained to not move as dramatically further slowing the wrinkling process.

IS BOTOX WORTH IT AND HOW LONG DOES BOTOX LAST?
That all depends. For many men and women, it is important to feel good about themselves and maintain a youthful appearance. There is some maintenance required with Botox treatments because it generally lasts about 3-4 months and then your muscles will return to their pre-treatment state. At that time, you will be due for another treatment.

However, your wrinkles will not worsen when the treatment wears off. They will return to baseline once the product has left your system.

HOW MUCH DOES BOTOX COST?
Botox treatments are highly individualized, and every person requires a different number of units. Just because you are older, does not necessarily mean you will require more units. It is all based on muscle movement. Any of Couture Med Spa’s highly trained providers can provide a quote for you based on your unique needs.

New Couture members can also get Botox for $7.97 per unit!
