Most people who look into getting laser tattoo removal have probably had “I hate my tattoo” run across their minds a few times. And we get it. But the better question is, have you outgrown your tattoo? We are ever-evolving beings so outgrowing your tattoo is extremely normal. But not something you have to live with for the rest of your life…sorry mom!

I have heard endless reasons why clients want to remove their tattoos from a new career or entering the military, but regardless of the reason, we are here for you and want to help you look and feel like YOU! Which could mean removing a tattoo that doesn’t represent you anymore.
I’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions for anyone on the fence about getting their tattoo removed. We can definitely remove tattoos, but tattoo removal isn’t for everyone and we want our clients to feel informed and confident in their decision to remove their tattoo. So this blog is for you!

How does laser tattoo removal work?
The RevLight laser disrupts with tattoo pigment allowing your body to absorb it and naturally eliminate it through the lymphatic system. Without help from the laser, the ink particles are too large to be absorbed which is why your tattoo exists in the first place.

What kind of tattoos can be removed?
Not all tattoos are created equal. Laser tattoo removal can remove all colors of ink and is safe to remove professional tattoo ink and India ink. Unfortunately, cosmetic tattoos cannot be removed with the RevLite laser.

When can I start removing my new tattoo?
Great news! Old tattoos can be removed immediately! If your tattoo is new, please wait at least 6 weeks prior to your laser tattoo removal procedure to allow adequate time for full healing.

How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Local industry standards in the Central Florida area averages about $450 per session for laser tattoo removal, but here at Couture Med Spa it only costs $299 per session! Plus, we have great membership packages for an even better deal.

How long does laser tattoo removal take?
Initial appointments will take about 45 minutes, but to help speed things up we can send your medical consents via email to be filled out prior to your appointment.

After your first appointment you will be scheduled for a 30-minute appointment, but don’t worry the actual procedure only takes a few minutes. Appointment times allow enough time for prepping, treating, and aftercare.

After each appointment, you will return every 6 weeks until you see your desired results. Results vary but usually take about 5-15 sessions for a tattoo to be completely cleared although brighter colors such as light blues, greens, and reds fade more gradually.

In the end, your tattoo should be barely visible or not visible at all. Various factors affect how long it takes to remove tattoos such as depth of tattoo ink, amount of ink, the color of ink, skin tone, age of the tattoo, even your immune system can play a factor.

What is the preparation and aftercare for laser tattoo removal?
We take progress photos at each appointment and use prescription strength numbing cream prior to your treatment to help reduce pain during your procedure. We then thoroughly clean the treatment area prior to the provider performing the laser treatment. Ice can be used prior to the treatment as well upon request.

After treatment, Aquaphor and a bandage will be applied. It is best to keep the treated area covered for 24 hours and then the bandage may be changed as needed. Please ensure to keep the area clean, dry, and avoid the sun. All aftercare instructions are given at the initial appointment to take home and are listed on our webpage as well.

View the full PDF of the instructions here.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
During your treatment, the provider’s number one goal is to make sure you’re comfortable. We’re human! We don’t want anyone to be in pain. Your provider will help you by taking breaks as needed and make you feel as comfortable as possible during your treatment.

Every clients’ pain tolerance varies, but for some, it can be more painful than getting the initial tattoo. The pain is reduced with prescription numbing cream prior to your appointment to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible.

You are bigger than your tattoo!
Sometimes it’s hard to see the big picture when we are so hyper-focused on what we hate, like a tattoo for example, but this treatment (like the rest of our treatments) is all about you feeling and looking more like yourself. That’s our mission. So if you’re curious if laser tattoo removal is for you schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our providers. They can answer questions about your specific situation. And like every tattoo that needs to be removed…there’s always a good story!
