Learn how long to stay on semaglutide or tirzepatide for weight loss, what to expect at each stage, and how to track progress for long-term success.
At Couture Med Spa, we understand that sustainable weight loss is deeply personal. If you're exploring weight loss injections like semaglutide or tirzepatide, you might be wondering, “How long will I need to stay on this medication?” Let’s walk through what you can expect and how our expert team supports you every step of the way.
The goal for GLP-1 weight loss peptides is to lose approximately 15% of your total body weight in 1 year. Typical expected results are a loss of 0.5-2lbs per week. Results will vary based on several different factors including medication dosage, individual diet and variable health conditions.
Clients may experience “peaks and valleys” with weight loss, losing several pounds one week and none the next. This is normal and as your body adjusts to the medication you will work with your expert Couture Med Spa provider to find the best dosage and medication that works for you.
At the start of your weight loss journey, clients may experience a general fatigue that typically subsides once you adjust to your medication. During your initial consultation, your expert provider at Couture Med Spa will offer you an FAQ sheet with all the information needed to ensure the most effective and tolerable weight loss peptide journey experience.
You and your expert provider will discuss your weight loss goals during your first appointment and how best to achieve them. It is important to remember that this is a process and not a short-term quick fix. You will want to ensure that you will be successful in losing the proper amount of weight and maintaining your healthy new weight.
Couture Med Spa follows a tried-and-true weight loss protocol to ensure a realistic and successful weight management program. Some clients may meet their weight loss goals sooner than others.
It is not abnormal for clients to continue weight loss peptides for a year or longer. Clients will agree on a treatment plan with their provider and discuss a maintenance plan if needed once goals are reached.
Clients will schedule weekly weigh-ins with their expert provider, and GLP-1 dosages will be adjusted based on the amount of loss. Your tirzepatide and semaglutide progress will be tracked weekly, noting weight, muscle mass, and body mass index.
It is essential to maintain muscle mass by incorporating weightlifting about 30 minutes a day. Cardio is not necessary but if desired, light cardio can be done. Once your weight loss goals are obtained, it is important to maintain a low carb, low fat, high protein, high fiber diet to maintain your new healthy weight.
You will want to continue your new healthy food and exercise habits to keep the weight off.
Once off the medication, you may resume cardio and weights to ensure long term success.
Your journey doesn’t end when the medication stops. Our goal at Couture Med Spa is to help you build sustainable habits that last.
Healthy habits matter: A diet rich in protein and fiber, paired with strength training or gentle cardio, can help you keep the weight off and support your metabolism.
Smooth transitions: If you and your provider decide it's time to stop the injections, we’ll walk you through it. You’ll have a personalized maintenance plan and support system in place.
Overcoming challenges: It's normal to hit bumps in the road. We’re here to help you stay on track, feel confident in your progress, and adjust your routine if needed.
Your progress is worth celebrating. At Couture Med Spa, we’re here to support your goals—whatever they may be—and create a plan that honors your journey, every step of the way.
