Winter is coming… and dry skin is too! Winter is one of the harshest times of the year for our skin. Low humidity, cold temperatures, and harsh winds don’t do us any justice when it comes to our looks. Many things can contribute to drying skin this season. We must replenish our skin to avoid a dry, irritated, flakey, dull-looking appearance. This winter, make sure you are taking good care of your skin.
Here are a few tips and product recommendations from Couture Med Spa’s expert staff to keep your skin soft and glowing this winter.
Choose a pH-balanced cleanser
Using a gentle pH-balanced cleanser with lukewarm water will help you avoid over-drying your skin. Keep it simple with Couture Antioxidant Cleanser. This cleanser is gentle enough for the winter weather and has the added benefits of antioxidants to keep your skin healthy and fresh. Antioxidants help the body repair and replace damaged skin cells to nourish and replenish the skin. Couture Antioxidant Cleanser is also paraben, soap, and alcohol-free.
Stock up on the right moisturizers for dry skin
Give your skin the hydration it is craving with products like the Lipid Repair Cream, Moisturizing Day Cream, Couture Night Cream, and Hyaluronic Serum. The Moisturizing Day Cream helps soothe and calm your skin as well as helps prevent further moisture loss. If your skin is overly dry already, add in the Couture Night Cream to further help soften and hydrate your skin. Want a lighter moisturizer without sacrificing the extra hydration that a night cream can provide? Use Lipid Repair Cream. Lipid Repair Cream is our lightest, most moisturizing cream that helps repair your already drying damaged lipid barrier.
Moisturize your lips with the right serum
Got dry, wind-chapped lips? Try Age Rewind Eye and Lip Infused Serum to rehydrate those dry wrinkly lips and dehydrated skin under your eyes which contributes to more visible wrinkles. This amazing serum contains hyaluronic acid as well as liposome-encapsulated antioxidants. Use it two or more times a day as needed for added hydration. Also, don’t forget prevention with a sunscreen containing lip balm. Your lips will thank you!
Don’t forget your sunscreen!
Everyone seems to believe that just because it’s colder outside, they don’t have to worry about the sun, but that is completely false. The harmful UV rays are just as bad during the winter as they are in the summer! If you are thinking about taking a socially-distant ski trip this winter, just remember that the sun’s rays reflect off of the snow and ice right back into your face, making you more likely to get sunburned and increasing negative aging effects and contributing to skin cancer.
The Ultimatte Sunshade sunscreen provides superior broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection while replenishing lipids to keep your skin healthy and moist. It goes on smoothly, leaving you with a lightweight feeling and matte look. Also, try our Vitamin C Antioxidant Sunscreen for full-body coverage.
Try out NEW products if yours aren’t working
You have to know your options when it comes to skincare. For instance, two alternative products you may want to have in your rotation include the Couture Sheer Mist Sunscreen and Couture Antioxidant Toning Mist. Our amazing sheer mist sunscreen has rich antioxidants with aloe vera and fruit extracts to help nourish your skin and protect you from environmental stressors. Couture Antioxidant Toning Mist helps rejuvenate, calm, and hydrate the skin while refining pores and removing excess oils. Use as needed to refresh dull, dry skin throughout the day and help heal skin that has been compromised from this winter’s harsh weather. These are great little weapons to keep in your back pocket!
Don’t forget these best practices!
At the end of the day, there are some best practices for skincare that can help you year-round and in the winter. For example, gently exfoliating dead skin cells away help prevent skin from looking dull and gives you a glowing appearance. Vitamin C serum can also give you glowing skin and fight free radicals while helping keep your skin moisturized. Finally, there are products you should avoid like those that contain alcohol or other harsh drying ingredients. You should also avoid products containing parabens and fragrances. Remember, always use medical-grade products for the best results on your skin.
