Shave the area(s) receiving treatment the morning of your appointment.
The area to be treated should be freshly cleaned and free from any make-up, perfumes, creams, and/or anti-perspirants.
Avoid tanning and sunless tanning products 2 weeks leading up to treatments.
Do not wax or otherwise remove the roots of the hair follicles 2 weeks prior to receiving laser hair removal.
Do not bleach any hair to be treated, or lighten its color.
You must advise us of any medications you're currently taking or have taken in the past 6 months which increases sensitivity to light. Examples include several antibiotic and anti-fungal medications as well as isotretinoin.
Post-Treatment Care
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. This usually lasts 2-24 hours but can persist up to 72 hours. Mild swelling and redness may. accompany this, but it usually resolves in 2-3 days.
Apply cooling to the treatment area for 10-15 minutes every hour for the next 4 hours as needed. An oral, over-the-counter anti-inflammatory ibuprofen) or an analgesic (acetaminophen) may be taken to reduce discomfort.
Until redness has resolved, it's recommended to avoid the following: Applying cosmetics to excessive perspiration; sun exposure or tanning to treated areas; apply an SPF 45 or greater sunscreen to prevent skin color changes; aggressive scrubbing and use of exfoliants on the treated area.
Bathe or shower as usual. Treated areas may be temperature-sensitive.
Appearance of hair growth or stubble may continue for 7-30 days after treatment. This is not new hair growth, but treated hairs being expelled from the skin.
If any darkened scabs occur do not pick or pull at them as scarring may occur.
