Fuller Lips Begin With a Kysse

As surprising as it may sound being a provider in aesthetics at Couture Med Spa, I’d never had a filler injection. Crazy, right?

Many people may assume I’ve undergone filler treatments because I work in the industry and am knowledgeable about the different filler products. While I have had neurotoxin injections such as Botox and Dysport, filler never crossed my mind as something I needed.

However, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have more of a plump to my lips since mine are pretty thin and non-existent. So, I decided to give the filler world a try, and I’d like to share my experience with you!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT FILLER

Depending on my client’s lip structure or desires, I often recommend a variety of products such as Juvéderm products by Allergan as well as Restylane products by Galderma. However, Galderma recently launched a new filler called Restylane Kysse. It has received a ton of hype in the aesthetic world, especially by my all-time favorite injector, Julie Horne. Because of the positive feedback regarding this new product, I wanted to give it a try on myself!

Restylane Kysse is a new FDA-approved filler that is used for the lips to temporarily add fullness and help smooth the wrinkles around the upper lip (perioral lines) in patients over the age of 21. Restylane Kysse is the first hyaluronic acid (HA) filler specifically indicated for the lips using XpresHAn Technology. It’s a longer-lasting lip filler proven to hold for up to one year. It also gets high client satisfaction reviews from people with lips that have changed due to aging or those seeking a fuller and more natural-looking lip.

BEFORE THE INJECTION 

Before my lip injections, I learned about Restylane Kysse from Galderma, and I also conducted my own research on the product. I became familiar with the possible side effects that pretty much coincide with any filler injection. They include possible swelling, bruising, and injection site irritation. I knew the importance of being informed about a procedure that was new to me. I highly recommend that all my clients educate themselves on what’s in a product and how it can affect them ahead of time.

THE INJECTION

After being informed on the product and possible outcomes, I was ready to try it out. Couture Med Spa uses a lidocaine based numbing cream to help make filler injections more comfortable for clients. About 20 minutes after numbing was applied, I was ready to get fuller lips!

Sara (APRN) was my injector for this new filler, and she was amazing! She used ice during the treatment to further prevent any discomfort with the lip filler injection. I personally did not experience any significant pain or discomfort that I was expecting from my fears before the injection. I felt a little pinch with each injection that Sara did, but it was very tolerable and felt similar to the Botox treatments I’ve had. The lip filler treatment itself didn’t take long at all. Within 15 minutes, I had fuller lips— finally!

THE RESULTS

I had 99 problems, but now thin lips ain’t one.

After my lip injection with Restylane Kysse, I had some slight swelling, but not as much as I originally expected, and my lips felt very smooth and refreshed after the injection. I had full range of motion of my lips and barely any discomfort.

I expected to be so swollen and was ready to rely on ice cream for the rest of the night. However, I was thoroughly impressed that I only experienced two small bruises and slight pain from the injection. The bruises were barely noticeable and were completely gone within four days. I even had a family birthday party the day after my filler injection, and no one could tell I had filler treatment because the bruise was easily covered by lipstick. Everyone just kept complimenting my lipstick color. So, I knew my new natural plump lips were drawing their attention!

Sara worked her magic. My lip’s shape completely transformed from an uneven flat top lip to a very natural even shape with a subtle plump. I am not one who wanted very unnatural looking lips for my face, and this product surpassed all my expectations. I was very pleased with the comfort of the injection and the results. I’m thrilled that this product lasts up to a year because I am obsessed with my new lips and ready for them to stay this way!
