Botox® and Dysport® work by relaxing the muscles under the surface of the skin, allowing the skin to smooth out, making lines less visible. While Botox® is considered the gold standard in these types of treatments, Dysport® is growing in popularity. The two products are both made from the same neurotoxin, but the proteins that deliver the serum are different, which means that some people react more favorably to one treatment than the other.
Both treatments are FDA-approved. Anecdotal evidence indicates that Dysport® injections show positive results within one to two days time, whereas Botox® can take up to five days to show results.
