WHAT tattoos can be removed?
- Professional tattoos from a licensed professional
- All black and colored professional tattoos can be removed, as well as India ink tattoos.
- Cosmetic tattoos are NOT able to be removed with our RevLite lasers.
- CMS does not remove tattoos located on the front of the neck or on the face.
WHEN can I have my tattoo removed?
- You can remove a brand new tattoo 8 weeks after it was placed to allow for adequate time for skin healing.
HOW frequently can I have my tattoo removed?
- Tattoo removal is recommended every 6 weeks for the most optimal treatment.
HOW many sessions will it take to have my tattoo removed?
- Each individualized tattoo will vary on how many treatments it will take.
- Results vary, but can take anywhere from 6-16 sessions for a tattoo to be completely cleared.
- Tattoos containing light blues, greens, and reds fade more gradually and can take longer to be removed.
- Various factors come into play when determining the number of treatments needed, including the depth of the tattoo ink, amount of ink, whether it was covered with another tattoo, color of ink, skin tone, and age of tattoo. For example, a 10-week old, all black chest tattoo may require a lot fewer sessions than a colored, 13-year old ankle tattoo.
WHAT can I expect at a tattoo removal appointment at CMS?
- There will be an initial 45-minute consultation where we will collect medical history, take photos of the tattoo, and ask questions about the tattoo itself. After the initial visit, the appointments for tattoo removal will be 30 minutes.
- Topical prescription numbing cream is applied to the tattoo site.
- The client will wear protective eyewear during the laser treatment.
HOW does tattoo removal work?
- The RevLite laser sends wavelengths through the skin to break up the tattoo pigment, which is then absorbed into the body and naturally eliminated by the lymphatic system.
HOW does tattoo removal feel? Is it painful?
- It can be uncomfortable and a similar sensation to hot bacon grease popping on your skin. The topical numbing cream is applied to help combat the uncomfortable and hot sensation.
- You can also ice the tattoo site at home prior to removal and afterwards.
WHAT can I expect immediately after laser treatment?
- Frosting can often occur, which is a whitening appearance over the tattoo. This is a natural response to the tattoo removal process, indicating that the laser is penetrating the ink effectively.
- Mild swelling and redness
- After treatment, Aquaphor and a bandage is applied to the site.
- DO keep the area covered for the next 24 hours. If the tattoo is located on an area where it can be consistently rubbed against clothing, it is encouraged to keep it covered until healed.
- If the tattoo removal was performed on extremities, DO elevate the extremity after treatment.
- DO keep the area dry, covered, and clean.
- DO avoid the sun
- DON’T participate in physical activity for 48 hours after treatment
- DON’T go in pools, hot tubs, or baths until skin has healed after treatment
HOW long does each treatment take?
- Treatment varies depending on the size of tattoo. However, most treatments are completed in under a minute!
WHO is NOT a candidate for tattoo removal?
- If you have a red ink allergy
- If you have history of seizures
- If you have a white, pink, or salicylic-treated tattoo
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have taken Accutane in the last 6 months
- If you have taken antibiotics in the last 2 weeks

Initial Consult
When you arrive for your initial Dysport injectable appointment at Couture Med Spa, you will check in with the front desk. You will be given intake paperwork which will include a medical history and consent form. If this is your first visit and once you have completed all your paperwork, one of the client care coordinators will show you around the spa and complete a Visia skin analysis. The Visia skin analysis will do an in-depth evaluation of your skin and determine which treatments will be best for your skin.
Before your Dysport Treatment
You will then have photos taken of you making various expressions to track the progress of your treatments and results. These facial expressions will include smiling, raising your eyebrows, and making an angry face. Below are my before and after photos taken the day of my treatment and 8 weeks after my treatment.
During your Dysport Treatment
You will then be taken to an injectable room where you will meet with a Couture Med Spa provider who will assess your muscle movements to determine the number of units you will need. The dosage needed is based on various factors such as muscle strength and areas you want treated, and this will vary from person to person. I usually get around 55-60 units of Dysport. The provider will discuss the neurotoxin options Couture carries which includes Botox and Dysport. They are similar in action, but Dysport will begin working quicker than Botox does. When you have your consult with the provider, you can discuss which product will be best for you.
Next, you will be be marked with a marking pen that will show the provider where your muscles pull at the strongest. The area will be cleaned with alcohol prior to injection. Ice is applied prior to injection to pre-numb the area, which makes the treatment very comfortable. Dysport injections are painless in my opinion- the ice helps so much! The injection process itself will last 5-10 minutes, depending on how many areas are being injected. The photo below shows the areas I have injected when I get Dysport. There are different dosages in each injection, so there are much fewer injection points.
After your Dysport Treatment
Afterwards, there may some mild injection site swelling which resolves in about 15-20 minutes. You will be instructed in your aftercare to not lay down flat for 4 hours or work out for 8 hours post-injection. Then you wait… Dysport takes 48 hours to start working; you will start feelings those muscles relaxing more day by day. My results started showing within the first day and kicked in fully by the end of the week. However, the product may take up to 2 weeks to settle for some clients. It is recommended to wait 2 full weeks for the product to fully work before adjusting, if needed. I was happy with my results after the product settled so I did not need to follow up.
Overall, Dysport is one of my favorite treatments to receive with Couture Med Spa. It is quick, painless, and makes my skin so smooth! My results usually last around 3 months and I try to stay as consistent as possible to keep my skin at its best. Along with Dysport, I also do fillers, use medical-grade skin care daily, as well as lasers.
Other Considerations
Dysport can be injected into other areas than where I was injected. Below is a list and the average amount of units needed for various areas that can be injected with neurotoxin either Botox or Dysport. In the past, I have done my downward turn mouth, upper lip, jelly roll, and platysmal bands. When you consult with one of Couture Med Spas providers, you can go over what areas concern you and which treatments options will fit you best.
