No Surgery, No Downtime,
No Double Chin!

No Surgery, No Downtime, No Double Chin!

Introducing Kybella®, the first and only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment to improve moderate to severe fat beneath the chin (the dreaded double chin!) by destroying the fat cells in the treatment area.

Kybella® is injected directly into the area beneath the chin, which causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat.

Does Kybella Require a Lot of Treatments?

Kybella treatments can be an ongoing but not multi-year process. Naturally, we customize your Kybella treatment plan based on your goals and expectations, so the exact number of treatments will vary. However, we can confidently say that most patients achieve their desired results in two to four treatment sessions, which involve localized Kybella injections in and around subcutaneous fat accumulation beneath the jawline. Kybella can also be used around subcutaneous fat accumulation on the stomach, inner thighs, and bra fat regions.

These treatment sessions get scheduled in six-week increments. The maximum number of treatments is six, but most patients do not require it.

Is There a Lot to do Before Getting an Injection?

Kybella treatments are minimally invasive, quick procedures that usually take less than a 30 minute appointment and only about 3-5 minutes or less to inject when treating beneath the jawline and possibly longer for larger treatment areas such as the stomach depending on surface area. During a brief prep period, the specified treatment area gets marked for injection and, if necessary, topically numbed with anesthetic cream and upon request can be cooled with handheld ice bags or cold packs prior to treatment.Topical anesthesia is highly recommended by no means required and would only be administered for comfort. It’s also perfectly acceptable to take Tylenol over-the-counter pain reliever before receiving treatment but is advised to avoid blood thinning agents such has Ibuprofen, Aleve, Omega 3, or other blood thinning products. The Kybella injections themselves cause hardly any pain or discomfort beyond what many patients describe as a tooth ache after treatment and small pinches during actual injection. Cold compresses are applied after treatment for your comfort.

What About the Side Effects?

Side effects associated with Kybella treatments generally do not go beyond anything abnormal to most injectable therapies and include localized swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and hardness. In some cases, Kybella can cause serious side effects in difficulty swallowing or nerve injury in the jaw area, which sometimes results in weakened facial muscles. According to clinical studies, four out of every 100 patients had trouble swallowing, and nerve damage was even rarer and experienced by only two out of every 100 patients. It is advisable to apply ice or a cold pack to the treated area for 15 minutes after receiving treatment.
